Richard and Susan Colquitt are truly “local”: both were raised in the Memorial area in faithful Christian families; both graduated from Memorial High School in 1974; both ventured to the University of Texas for college degrees; and they returned as husband and wife to – you guessed it – the Memorial area, where they raised their three children: Jennifer, Christopher, and David. Susan was busily doing the enormously critical and difficult work of a homemaker while Richard was working as an attorney in downtown Houston for almost 30 years. In reality, Richard’s billable hours were severely (and joyfully) compromised by his call as a husband and father, by his busy SBMSA youth sports coaching “career,” by his regular leading of group Bible studies, and his long service on the West Houston Young Life Committee. In 2008, with the kids off to college and graduate school, Richard reduced his law practice even more to pursue an M.Div. degree at Westminster Theological Seminary (Dallas). Upon graduation from seminary in 2012, Richard was called as an assistant pastor at a nearby PCA church in Houston where he served for over three years before following the Lord’s prompting to seek pastoral service elsewhere. Richard’s pastoral passions center on teaching the Scripture with depth and clarity, and on shepherding God’s people with compassion and wisdom. His prayer is that these passions would abound in faithful service to this dear congregation, and would abound to the glory of God.
