Full Schedule

Friday, March 29, 6:30-8:30 pm: Dinner
The purpose, the power, the people of missions

Chapel dinner Friday night with Rev. Dr. Rick Phillips. Child care available for preregistered infants to 5th grade.

Saturday, March 30: Service Projects & Lunch
8:30 am to 12:30 pm: Service Projects
Adults and youth will take part in nearby community outreach service projects Saturday morning. Register early to assure your position on a missions team. Sign up online to serve at Cedar Brook Elementary, Gracewood, Mission of Yahweh, The WorkFaith Connection, or The Source for Women. Child care will be provided at the church for preregistered children age 6 and younger beginning at 8 am. Lunch will be provided to the children in child care whose parents attend the lunch at CEPC following the service projects. Learn more: Outreach Service Projects

1:00-2:30 pm: Lunch at CEPC with Rev. Phillips
Satan's reign of sin, Jesus's reign of salvation, humanity restored by our missionary Savior

Service project participants return to CEPC for lunch and reflection on the projects and missions with Dr. Phillips.

Service Projects

Cedar Brook Elementary

CEPC has been intentionally developing a strong relationship with Cedar Brook Elementary School to serve the faculty, staff, students and families. CEPC entered into this partnership in the spring of 2016 and has participated in several activities. Our relationship grows stronger with each event. On Missions Saturday (March 30), we will offer another intentional event to encourage and support our friends at CBE.

Volunteer/Work Description:
Projects are landscaping, fixing up paw prints and applying names as needed, fixing and cleaning carnival games and cleaning the booths.

The Source for Women

The Source for Women is a para-church crisis pregnancy and well-woman center offering support and counseling for women and their health needs.

Volunteer/Work Description:
CEPC members will support the staff and volunteers of The Source for Women by cleaning the waiting area, the consultation rooms, and kitchen.

Max Number of Volunteers Needed (The Source for Women): We could use 16 adults (age 18 & up). Volunteers under the age of 18 can not participate in The Source for Women project.

Gracewood is an independent Christian based ministry that assists single mothers and their children by providing residential housing, counseling, and many other services to help them lead successful lives. Gracewood offers a home-like environment where family well-being is restored while moms work toward specific, individual goals. At Gracewood, hurting mothers find a professional staff trained to deal with trauma and loss.

Volunteer/Work Description:
Volunteers will have the opportunity to serve in one of three areas:
1) deep cleaning of the three cottages on campus,
2) landscaping such as turning over beds, adding mulch, planting flowers, and
3) Mom`s Day Out/ Childcare.(Number of volunteers needed are determined by the number of children who sign up.)

Max Number of Volunteers Needed (Gracewood): Ideal cut off would be 60 adults and 20 children between ages of 7-18 for the number of activities planned.

Mission of Yahweh (project full)

As of March 21, the Mission of Yahweh project is full.

The Mission of Yahweh is a faith-based shelter that empowers, enriches and restores the lives of homeless women and children and provides outreach services to low-income communities. Their ministries are focused on ending the cycle of homelessness and dependency.

Volunteer/Work Description:
The volunteers will divide into three groups, as follows:
1) The women will interact with the women residents as Nolan teaches on prayer. There should be time to get to know some of the residents and share the love of Christ with them.
2) The children and youth, under the leadership of Patrick and other volunteers, will interact with the resident children with games, art work, puzzles and, gaga pit and other outside games for the youth.
3) The men will work on the following work projects: power-wash an outdoor hallway, caulk, clean and paint the first floor walls of the Mercy House resident hall.

Max Number of Volunteers Needed (Mission of Yahweh): The outreach activities could accommodate between approximately 60 adults and youth and 12-18 children between 7- 11.

The WorkFaith Connection

The WorkFaith Connection's mission is to help people in transition build a new life through work and faith. WorkFaith is a Christ-centered organization that exists to encourage disadvantaged job seekers in their hope for a better future and to equip them with job-readiness skills and beliefs to gain employment and lead healthy, productive, and spiritually rich lives.

Volunteer/Work Description:
After viewing a video presentation about WorkFaith Connection and meeting many of the staff, CEPC volunteers will pick from several opportunities to serve such as cleaning offices and windows, helping staff prepare material for their spring fundraiser, filling “Bags of Hope” for encouraging clients, and praying for students - past, present and future - and for the staff. Several CEPC members have personally benefited from the services of WorkFaith Connection.
